Around Ashridge - Thursday 9th July 2026

Leader: Di Baldwin

19 people braved the heat to walk the Ashridge Boundary trail led by Di Baldwin. Our first big challenge was Ivinghoe Beacon - thankfully there was a little breeze at the summit.

We'd been given the option of a shorter route back to the cars at 8 miles which 7 people took. The rest continued on to a much needed stop at the Bridgewater Arms.

A short shaded section led to the Golden Valley. By this time the heat was building and with no shade, 4 of us decided to take the opportunity of another break point which reduced our mileage to 15 back at the cars.

The remaining intrepid 5 completed the walk. Congratulations to them.

Our leader was well prepared with options for shortening the route to keep everyone safe. When we got back to the car park it was 35° and the centre of the car park had been roped off due to melting asphalt.
