16 miles from Ampthill Great Park.
A dire weather forecast – “I won't be offended at all if any of you decide not to stress test your waterproofs!” posted Sara – but we turned up anyway.  It wasn’t so grim.

Walking from Ampthill towards Maulden, we joined the Greensand Ridge for a while towards Clophill. The morning break was at the ruined church in Clophill at just over 6 miles. Then on to Silsoe via Upper Gravenhurst, for lunch at about 11 miles. A choice of the cafe at Wrest Park, Silsoe church or the Star & Garter pub. We returned to Ampthill via Flitton. 

Weather-wise, it was a much better day than we'd anticipated, with the rain easing during the morning. Just a little misty in the distance, so we missed the usual views from the Greensand Ridge.
