17 walkers joined Sara for a very misty figure of 8 from Ampthill.

The morning walk was 99% Katherine's Walk – named in honour of Katherine of Aragon, the Spanish Princess who was to become the first wife of Henry VIII.  We walked from the car park up to Katherine’s Cross for a group photo. The Cross commemorates Katherine and marks the site of the castle where she was imprisoned.

We turned west along the Greensand Ridge and walked on through the wooded countryside, pausing to say hello to the pigs, before circling round to arrive at Steppingley for a morning breather at the church. One of the homeless teddies there has found a new home and is already cherished.

After the break we headed back across the fields to Flitwick and onwards to Ampthill for our lunch stop. Rather than returning to the Cross, we left Katherine's Walk to approach the town through The Alameda avenue of lime trees.

The afternoon saw us setting off on the Greensand Ridge again, eastwards this time, passing one of the BBN benches, and then walking field paths to Maulden Church for a few minutes break. None of the usual views here. The mist was getting thicker, and the first rain drops fell as we headed back towards Ampthill.  We knew the rain was coming, and were glad we were getting close to the finish when the weather worsened.

It was such an enjoyable day out, thank you Sara.
