What can I say about such an enjoyable day out with Alan?

We arrived to the full magnificence of Alan’s Christmas lights, a welcome chat and a hello to new member Martyn who lives nearby. Then we were off, a group of 14, to walk the Biggleswade Green Wheel.

Initially we walked through Biggleswade Common, crossing the East Coast Main Line over what must be one of the biggest footbridges in Bedfordshire - there are mounting blocks either side and it was obviously built with ample room for horses to cross.

We had a leisurely break at Jordans Mill, some of us enjoying a post-Christmas treat; a hazelnut latte for me. Absolutely delicious.

On round the Wheel, along the River Ivel and the Kingfisher Way (two kingfishers were spotted during the day), later passing through parkland where there are lots of nods to cycling in honour of Dan Albone, ace cyclist and inventor, who was born in Biggleswade.

Back to Alan’s for a very sociable finish to the walk. Therese and Daniel joined us and we all enjoyed a hot cuppa or two with a choice of four cakes to sample.  A few crumbs were left!  Alan is an extremely genial host, and before we left he let us have a quick peek in his baking cupboard.

This was my first Twixmas walk and It was a very enjoyable day. Thank you Alan.

Can I add that before Christmas I bought one of Alan's Christmas puddings and a Christmas cake. They were both absolutely delicious and didn’t last long when all the Bunkers tucked in.  Nice one Alan.  Roll on next Christmas!
