Terry’s ‘Traditional’ Christmas Cracker! - Thursday 18th Dec 2025

Leader: Terry Brown

Well, let’s say we got wet. 21 of us, plus Alfie who came along with Jim, left the cp at 9.15 am for Terry’s Traditional Christmas Cracker in dry conditions but the threat of rain was brewing.

We headed along the Grand Union Canal for about a mile, then we left the canal and headed across the countryside heading for Stockgrove Park where we had our morning T-break. Some made use of the cafe, buying hot coffee, and Alan’s cake was handed around, which went down well. While we had our T break the rain started and just never stopped for the rest of the day.

After T break we headed for Leighton Buzzard for lunch and the Black Lion pub and Wetherspoons on the High Street for a well earned pint or two for just over an hour.

Leaving Leighton Buzzard in the rain which had not stopped, we headed back to the Grand Union Canal and a three and a half mile trek back to the cp.

We had some superb woodland walking for a lot of the day and everybody enjoyed themselves.  So did I, even though I came very close to going in the canal head first because I didn’t notice a hole on the towpath.

Nice one Terry. (That’s nice one, Terry, for a superb walk, not a sarky remark cos you didn’t tell me about the hole by the way.)
