Six of us all had a good day on the 6th November plus Alfie the dog who came with Jim.

It was not long before we started to circumnavigate the Washlands, an important refuge for wintering wildfowl. Leaving the Washlands and the birdlife behind, we headed uphill into Little Houghton. Following the road through Lt Houghton, we crossed the A428 and headed in the same direction towards Lt Houghton Lodge. Turning left we headed into the countryside and headed for Brayfield-on-the-Green where we had our morning T break next to the village pond where the ducks were making a lot of noise.
After T break we headed for Whiston, where we did a small loop then through Whiston church grounds, and then following the road we left the small village of Whiston, crossed the Whiston road and uphill to the River Nene.

Turning left we followed the river to Cogenhoe where we had our lunch break where the caravan park used to be. After lunch we walked into Cogenhoe, turned right then through a small games park to head back into Lt Houghton and then followed the same route back to the Washlands and back to the cars.

Although we had a tiny bit of rain first thing it did not stay very long and most of the day was dry and overcast. Alfie who came along with Jim also had a good day too, until Jim started to threaten poor Alfie with a bath when they got back home, in fact Jim was even talking about both getting in the bath together…Hmmmm. (I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall there with my camera).
