20 walkers left Clophill following Dee and crossed over the A6 and into Maulden Woods on the Greensand Ridge walk on the first loop of the day.
It was a beautiful walk through the woods, then out into the countryside heading towards Maulden. Through Maulden, then back out into the undulating countryside heading for Ampthill where we had our T break at the Ampthill church.
After T break we headed back out into the countryside and followed a track passing the remains of Houghton House over to our left. We followed the Marston Vale Trail for a while skirting Kings Wood before heading east, then south to head back into Maulden Woods to return to Clophill for lunch and the start of the second loop.
A few who did not do the first loop turned up for the second loop and some from the morning loop did not do the afternoon loop.
It was a cloudy day but it did not rain, and everybody enjoyed the day.
It was nice to welcome an old friend Nigel Schofield and new members who joined us for the first time and we hope you come back again, and the BBN chair Sara Feal walked with us as well.
