A lovely day in the sunshine. This walk was part of the MK Parks Trust’s Walking Festival but only 6 of the 15 booked for the walk turned up on the day.  But the 6 who joined us were all absolutely lovely and the Festival Folk soon became Festival Friends.  Congratulations to them all – most of them walked further than they had before.
It was a really great day - thank you all for your company. It was a real pleasure to lead you.

The route: Oakridge – Stanton Low Park –  ruined St Peter’s Church - River Ouse/Haversham Mill – Castlethorpe – morning break - the earthworks, all that remains of the castle – Cosgrove and the Barley Mow – Cosgrove Locks – the disused Buckingham Arm of the Grand Union Canal with restoration work – the Ouse Valley Park – the river - the former Wolverton Mill – Old Wolverton church, the site of the medieval village and the castle – the Grand Union Canal - the “top path” where we looked across the valley for a very clear view of where we had walked earlier – the Ouse again to New Bradwell – Spencer Street – and the canal to finish.
