The Jurassic Way is an 88 mile long distance path. It runs from Banbury in the West to Stamford in the East, following a band of Jurassic Limestone along the Northern boundary of Northamptonshire.

Stage 1 Thursday 27th Feb Banbury to Woodford Halse. 15.8 miles
Stage 2 Saturday 8th March Woodford Halse to Watford.15.6 miles
Stage 3 Thursday 10th April Watford to Welford Reservoir 13 miles
Stage 4 Thursday 8th May Welford to East Carlton Park 16.5 miles
Stage 5 Saturday 7th June East Carlton Park to Barrowden 15.7 miles
Stage 6 Thursday 19th June. Barrowden to Stamford 14 miles.

Part 1 Leader: Sara Waldron

A lovely sunny day to begin BBN’s traverse of the Jurassic Way. Starting from Banbury, and pausing for a group photo on the canal bridge near the lock where the Way starts, we were on our way to walk our first section to Woodford Halse.

Highlights:
Walking along the Oxford Canal - swing bridges and reflections in the morning sunshine.
The lovely old cottages in the villages we passed through, their stonework resplendent in the sun.
Snowdrops, and early daffodils.
The beautiful church at Middleton Cheney.
Edgcote House with the church close by.
The barman at Chipping Warden saying “Help is coming!” as umpteen thirsty walkers crowded round the bar.
The rolling countryside with great views all around in the afternoon sunshine.

There was mud and the many high stiles that Sara had warned us about – but what a lovely day.
