Monopoly Walk - Saturday 22nd February 2025

Leader: Gill Bunker

What a fantastic day we had on the Monopoly Walk in London, the weather was good to us, the sun even came out to shine on us, and I was walking in a long sleeve shirt but corrrr bleedin blimey (for you Jackie) it was a long day.
I got to Euston early to grab an Eggs Benedict and 3 cups of coffee breakfast at Wetherspoons at Euston. 6 of us met at Euston for a 9.30am start then we headed for St Pancras to meet up with the rest of the crew. I took a tumble between Euston and St Pancras and bruised my knee.
After meeting up with the rest we set off for our trek around London to tick off the squares one by one on the Monopoly board. A morning T break at Liverpool St Station then on to walk across a very busy Tower Bridge to visit the only place on the board south of the River Thames, the Old Kent Road, to then return back across the Thames via Tower Bridge for lunch at London Bridge station.
After lunch we trudged on ticking off all the places on the monopoly board one by one, we didn’t visit a jail though, (the reason being Norman looked a bit worried when prisons were mentioned so it was decided to stay away from the prisons, we luv ya Norm….Honest mate).
Pm T break at Golden Sq we slowly but surely ticked off all the squares on the board. With only Marylebone station to go 5 min around the corner a few left to head back to watch the rugby and football leaving just 6 of us hardy trekkers to finish off the squares. With aching feet I took my last photo at 18.09, and we were told that we would be finished for about 3.30pm. Corrr bleedin blimey. Professionally led by Gill with her BBN monopoly banner in the air and Jackie at the rear we all had a great day. Bring on the A-Z on another day. ( Visiting all the Wetherspoons pubs in London keeps popping up in conversations, just saying). Cheers Jack and Gill.
