Around Woburn - Thursday 13th February 2025
Leader: Liz Sheffield
What a great day we had following Liz around Woburn. It was dry all day but no sun. We had some good views of the countryside and good woodland walking, but who could forget the mud! Liz did warn us there was mud.
We left the cp in Woburn at 9.30am and headed for the deer park where we found the mud, loads of it. Three of us ended up in it more than others.
Tea break was on a hill with a view overlooking Brookend, excellent choice, then onwards. Lunch in a wood which conveniently had cut timber to sit on.
In the afternoon we headed back into the deer park where we encountered deer who looked at us inquisitively. Through the deer park, we walked past the entrance to the game park, then turned left to follow a path with views of the game park over to our left. The footpath used to be along the fence next to the park but it was moved further away from the fence, probably for safety reasons. There are not a lot of walks where you can walk in the Bedfordshire countryside and watch rhinos and zebra wandering around.
Lovely woodland walking. great views and herds of deer made it a great day. Nice one Liz.
