Walk Report
New Year's Hangover Buster: Feminist Walk, Saturday 1st January 2022 27 walkers, 10 miles - leader Susanne WaldschmidtThe Hangover Buster Walk this year saw the warmest New Year Day ever recorded.
So it was no surprise that the walk was well attended with 27 walkers including the leader.
This was a leisurely walk so it was good to see some old faces.
The early part of the walk was quiet and we explored lots of little back streets.
St James's Park was at 16.3 degrees the warmest location in England. Central London was packed with people enjoying the unseasonably good weather. Navigating 26 people was a bit of a challenge and I lost three people in Green Park but my excellent backmarker Godfrey had soon rounded the strays up and we continued. Things were running a bit late and I didn't finish until 5pm.
I think everyone discovered bits of London that they didn't know existed as well as learning a little history.
Thanks to our guest historian Dave Williams who walked a couple of miles with us and told us the role that women played in Special Operations during World War II.
Also thanks to whoever gave us all a piece of Christmas cake.
The quiz was won by Gail Elrick but unfortunately no wine in a pub at the end.
