Meet Knockholt Railway Station. A circular walk through Knockholt, Halstead, Downe, Biggin Hill and Orpington
General Notes
Take 08:10 from Charing Cross calling at Waterloo East and London Bridge before arriving at Knockholt 09:01. Most of the walk is rural but there is a 2 mile section that goes through Orpington meaning a bit of pavement bashing. There are a few steep ascents and descents early on. If it’s been raining heavily beforehand walking poles would be helpful. A packed lunch will be needed. Lunch will be broken up into 3 or 4 parts consisting of an early banana break, a picnic lunch in the woods just before reaching Biggin Hill and hopefully a tea stop at Keston Ponds. A possible pub break towards the end. We may encounter mud depending on the weather beforehand. Hopefully plenty of bluebells and we will go past several golf courses, thankfully not through. Dropout point at 17miles Orpington Station.
