2: Challenge event

The Essex & Herts group ‘Essex Walker’ challenge event is on Sunday 14th April from Galleywood Common. Peter Tremain has put together another lovely route, this time south towards the Hanningfields and the vast South Hanningfield reservoir.  There are two distances, 27 or 17 miles. See link to Si entries

Last week's walks

 

1. Friday 8th March.  Walking with the commuters 9-5. Eleven walkers joined Jerome on this 18.9 mile mud-free walk to celebrate the first day of TFL’s 3 month trial of concessionary travel rates on a Friday. Route followed the Jubilee Greenway north from Westminster station and then east to Royal Albert (DLR) station.

2. Saturday 9th March:18 people joined Lonica at Shenfield station for a warm and sunny 17 mile walk to Brentwood via Thorndon Country Park and a lunch stop at the Old Dog Inn.

LDWA Walks

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
