Two Crosses Challenge Event


 

The Two Crosses Challenge Event. Sunday March 14th 2027.

 

Each year we host a 18 and 26 mile challenge event. Both routes visit the Roman Cross at Affetside and the Pilgrim's cross on Holcombe Moor.

 

The event venue is Greenmount Old School Community Centre BL8 4DS.

 

Entries for the 2027 Two Crosses will open on Monday 7th September 2026 on SI Entries.

Priority booking will be available for LDWA members until 7th October 2026, when entries will be opened up to everyone.

LDWA members - £15.00, Non-LDWA - £22.00.

Entries – Refunds are available, subject to a 20% admin fee.  Entries can be sold to another entrant, subject to SI admin fees.  Substitution of entrants can be done, with no fees.  These changes must be done by entrants using SI entries.  These changes can be made until Saturday 6th March 2027.

 

 

Please note the following points for 2027 –

  • Parking – will be across various locations.  Please follow the marshals directions.  Do not park at the Old School.  There will NOT be parking available at the Miller and Carter pub this year. You will be liable for a fine via the ANPR cameras if you park there. Please car share where possible. There may be a walk from some parking locations.

  • Remember to bring a mug and all relevant equipment as listed on SI entries.

  • Dogs are very welcome, but must be kept on a lead and under close supervision due to livestock and ground nesting birds.  They should also have their own public liability insurance. 

  • The cut off time for the long route is 10.30am..  You must reach the cut off at 7.5 miles by 10.30 to continue on the long route.

  • There will be closing times for Checkpoint 4 onwards.  You must reach the checkpoints by the time in the route description or you may be retired.

  • The route is NOT waymarked.  Entrants must use the route description and GPX provided to navigate.

  • Choice of routes; whilst you are asked on SI to choose a route, you can change your mind at any point up to reaching the cut off point on the day.  You do not need to let us know beforehand.

  • If you are not registered on the event, please do not take part.  Non registered participants are not welcome.
