Owing to a late withdrawal 5 London LDWA members set off along the Wey Navigation. After a short diversion for a path closure, they continued along the North Downs Way to St. Martha's Church (see photo). They continued to Shere where Chris showed us the site of the Anchoress' cell. Then on to Gomshall before climbing up to Hackhurst Down to join the most scenic part of the North Downs Way across Blatchford Down. After lunch overlooking the valley they returned along the top of the Downs with an ice cream stop at West Hanger. The return to Guildford was past the Tillingbourne Brewery across Merrow Downs to Pewley Down. They went through the Guildford Castle grounds with a stupendous display of bedding plants.
