Lancashire Way - 50 mile route

82 km / 51 miles
The aim of this shorter route is to be a taster and a starter for walking the longer loops of the Lancashire Way, which take significantly more commitment, and it includes the very best of Lancashire.

The route is based on the Central Loop and includes the Ribble Valley, Pendle Hill, which is probably the most well-known hill in the county, the Hodder Valley, which is said to be one of the Queen's favourite places in England, the Bowland Fells and much more. It has an overall ascent of 7,000ft but it is designed not to be overly strenuous and capable of being completed by most proficient walkers.

Whilst accommodation options are not always abundant and public transport is not the best in some parts the various logistical options are clearly outlined on the Lancashire Way website (link below).

The route was developed by Neil Harwood, at the suggestion of the West Lancashire Group, as a fitting way of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the LDWA in 2022.
