Normally we aim to have at least one Social walk every Sunday, this will generally be a 20 Mile and or 15 Mile Social Walk.

A figure of 8 through Piddington and Radnage, returning via Cadmore End to Fingest where we will stop for a cuppa and cake at the church around 2:30pm (subsidised), 2226ft ascent

Meander around the Kennet Valley passing sites older & more recent. 900 feet ascent.

Other News
SECRETARY VACANCY
Duncan will be coming up to the end of his 5 year term next January as Secretary. He wishes to continue with the Challenge Walks role, that he was doubling up on, and this may involve more work in 2026 as we are planning an expansion of the Marlow Donkey. He does therefore want to pass on the limited responsibilities of the Secretary role to someone new. This is not an onerous role, with the responsibilities involving:
- Arranging the Date and Venue for Committee Meetings (about 3-4 per year) and the AGM. This is easy as all of these are likely to be at Lane End Village Hall (committee meetings after walks) and it just involves an email to the hall manager that we have a good relationship with, then passing to the Treasurer for payment.
- Compiling the agenda and minutes of these.
- Sending out emails to members to announce events. The LDWA have a very efficient bulk email system with appropriate lists of members already sorted for you. This also is very quick and easy.
- Sending out welcome notes every so often to new members. This can be rapidly done by sorting on the online membership list and using the bulk email system.
- Attending the annual LDWA Local Groups Weekend. This is OPTIONAL, and often another committee member will go.
We are also open to offers of two members sharing these responsibilities. If you think you might be interested in helping, please speak to Duncan or another committee member on a walk or email thamesvalley@ldwa.org.uk
Don’t Lose Your LDPs
There are two Long Distance Paths local to the Thames Valley Area that need support to keep them active and up to date.
- Beeches Way (16m) - Connects the River Thames at Cookham with the Grand Union Canal at West Drayton, passing through several ancient woodlands now designated as SSSIs, including part of Burnham Beeches and the village of Stoke Poges.
- Cross Bucks Way (24m) - route mainly through agricultural land which links with the Oxfordshire Way at Stratton Audley, the North Bucks Way at Addington, the Swan's Way at Swanbourne and the Greensand Ridge Walk at Old Linslade.

Challenge Walk Reports
BBN's Pick & Mix Event
Shahina and Alison were among a number of Thames Valley members who tackled BBN's Pick & Mix Event on Sunday 1st June at Wendover. The day was warm and sunny with a moderate breeze - perfect conditions.
Within the time limit of 10 hours they completed the 10 mile route, the two different 8 mile routes and to finish the day the 2 mile 'interest walk' around Wendover, a total of 28 miles and 2844 feet of ascent. Each loop came back to the HQ via a slightly different route, and in between loops there was an abundance of biscuits, cakes, sandwiches and snacks to be had. The various routes took in Wendover Woods (where they met the Gruffalo), views of Chequers, the Wendover Arm canal and alongside parts of RAF Halton.
