Hello!  This is just a reminder of the challenge events coming up in Surrey.  We would be grateful if you would publicise these to your members as we hope some of them will be able to join us on these events.

Friday 1 January 2027 (New Year’s Day) Surrey Inns Kanter

An excellent way to start the year with a choice of 12 and 20 mile routes.  This is a Kanter so you will need some mapping (paper/electronic) with you - the grid references are published on the website some days before the event.  It’s a low key event with no checkpoints but access to pubs and cafés en route.  All the details can be found at https://ldwa.org.uk/Surrey/W/10753/surrey-inns-kanter.html

Sunday 17 January 2027 Winter Tanners

This is our annual challenge event with a choice of either 20 and 30 mile routes.  The gpx and route descriptions are only published a few days beforehand - so no one knows the route in advance.  There are no indoor checkpoints and so it’s a cold, hard event but great fun and you’ll get a warm welcome at our outdoor checkpoints.  All the details can be found at https://ldwa.org.uk/Surrey/W/10754/winter-tanners.html

Sunday 14 February 2027 Surrey Loops

This is a brand new event!  The route consists of three 10 mile loops.  Walkers/runners enter the event and then on the day they can choose how many loops they wish to do.  So there’s a distance for everyone!  There are no checkpoints, but at the far point of each loop entrants collect a loop and bring it back to HQ.  Then, they can either find food and drink at the checkpoint before going out again on the next loop, or decide to finish and go indoors for a hot meal.  And this year we’re including a free badge for all finishers.  All the details can be found at https://ldwa.org.uk/Surrey/W/10755/surrey-loops.html

I hope you are able to pass on this information to your members.  Entries for all three events are open now and will start filling up.
