1. New members
A warm welcome to new primary members Oliver Roberts, Mark Owen, Jonathan Storm Biberg Kavlie, Tammy Swinglehurst, and Matthew Sharp; and new associate members Stuart Holbrook, Matthew Cuogih, and David Gritz. Tammy was one of the magnificent seven completing the whole distance on the two rivers walk.
2. Volunteers needed to marshall at the 2027 Jurassic 100.
Thank you to all those from the London LDWA group who volunteered to help at the 2026 Hunnypot 100. It was a hot one! Your smiles and support were much appreciated by the walkers.
The 2027 Jurassic 100 is being organized by Cornwall/Devon group. London Group will be providing help at Headquarters in Axminster which is easily accessible by train.
Most volunteers will be involved with kitchen support at the finish of the 100. This involves taking orders, serving food, cleaning tables, making tea/coffee and generally making sure exhausted walkers are well looked after.
We also need 3 or 4 volunteers who do the baggage.
The group usually try to make a weekend of it so there will be a social walk on the Saturday before starting our stint. We usually work from early Sunday to Monday in 3 shifts of 8 hours.
There is a hall about 1.5 miles away for all helpers to sleep (and park). The hall will be available from Friday afternoon. The organisers have in mind to use a vehicle to transport volunteers throughout the event to and from this Hall to the base. London volunteers will be very welcome to use this facility.
Susanne Waldschmidt will be coordinating the volunteers and will be providing more information and recruiting early in the New Year. If you would like to help please book the dates in your diary now. London is a large group and lots of our members take part in the 100. Perhaps a few more could help out. Without volunteers the 100 could not take place so especially if you have done a 100 in the past do think of joining our luverly London volunteers. It’s a great way of enjoying the 100 (without the blisters).

Rochford to Burnham-on-Crouch; KCIII Coastal Path Part V
Event Type: Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / London
Start Time: 9:10
Route: Rochford station (8:13 from Liverpool Street/8.20 from Stratford arrives 09:05). Flat route. Includes circumnavigation of Wallasea Island.
Notes: Bring food and drink. No shops or pubs on route. Short cut possible at half way. We take the ferry across to Burnham-on-Crouch. Bring card to pay £5.50. Please let leader know, ideally via WhatsApp or text, if you wish to come; ideally the day before so he can update you if there are any necessary changes to travel details or the route. (If the ferry is not running may need to re-route).

Kentish Delights - A Kent Group joint out of town circular
Event Type: Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / Kent
Start Time: 8:40
Route: Meet at Westenhanger railway station. Car parking at the station or on the slip road just before the station. Train from London St. Pancras at 7.40, change at Ashford International or the 7.13 train direct from London Bridge. Short platform - listen to announcements. Aiming to finish for the 16.49 hourly return train to London. Hilly morning on the North Downs, woodlands and meadows in the afternoon. Some paths are indistinct, ploughed up, overgrown with nettles, brambles.
Notes: Bring sufficient food and liquid refreshments. Morning break and lunch stop will be a picnic on the top of the Downs, weather permitting. Possible afternoon break, if time permits, at Brabourne Lees which has a shop where supplies can be topped up. Moderate pace. Woodland facilities. LDWA membership card has a space on it for adding emergency contact details, all members are encouraged to carry this during the walk. It would be helpful to contact the walk leader to confirm if you wish to come on this walk (LDWA membership number required please). This is a joint walk for Kent and London groups.
