You may have seen the recent LDWA NEC newsletter recommended the film The North, which is about two friends hiking the West Highlands Way and the Cape Wrath Trail "to reconnect with each other, with nature and with parts of themselves".

Return of the Alley 100

Event full: This walk is fully subscribed as of April 21. There is a second staging on Tuesday 12th May for which a few places are still available. If you are unable to attend that second staging, but are interested in doing the walk, please contact Ron in case he has any cancellations for the 7th.

Route: Start Fenchurch Street station.Across London to Victoria station

Notes: An attempt to beat the current record of London’s alleys and passageways visited on a day’s social walk. The record of 130 has stood since 2024 so come prepared for a day of disorientation and utter confusion as we aim to rewrite the record books by completing 150. There are many opportunities to escape early if time or brain death means that a valiant effort has to be aborted. We finish at Victoria station after traversing the city on a route that cannot use the same section of road more than once and may not cross itself. This walk is to be repeated on May 12th as participants are restricted to 12 walkers Please contact ronwilliamsonuk@gmail.com to reserve a place stating your preferred date. The leader on the day will be Pete Colley an experienced Alley addict.

“Bella Isabella” Evening walk, Norbiton to Kingston

Event Type: Group Walk.

Start Time: 18:30

Route: 18.30 Norbiton station (train departs 17.57 Waterloo, 18.0 Vauxhall, 18.06 Clapham Junction). Meet at the main entrance which is north side of station. If arriving from London, go down the steps, through the underpass, and up the steps

Richmond Park Isabella Gardens, Thames path return to Kingston-upon-Thames.

Notes: The annual spring flower walk to see the vibrant colourful display of rhododendrons and azaleas. Moderate pace. LDWA membership card has a space on it for adding emergency contact details. All members are encouraged to carry this during the walk. It would be helpful to contact the walk leader in advance to confirm if you wish to come on this walk (LDWA membership number required please).

Chelsfield Circular

Route: Meet outside ticket office of Chelsfield Station (Zone 6) Trains depart Charing Cross 08.01; Waterloo East 08.04; London Bridge 08.10 and arrive at Chelsfield at 08.47

A circular route passing through Chelsfield Village, Lullingstone Golf course, Eynsford, Shoreham and Lullingstone Country Park. Ascent around 2000ft.

Notes: This walk is a repeat of the first walk I led for the LDWA 2 years ago but in the reverse direction. Please bring sufficient food and drink. Lunch will be split between 2 breaks at 6ish and 12ish miles. Pubs and small village shops at both locations.
