2. LDWA London Group Annual General Meeting 2026 - final reminder
The agenda and all report papers for the meeting are now available on the website.
Please note copies of papers will NOT be provided at the meeting. A limited number of printed agenda papers will be available.
As notified the meeting is to be held on Wednesday 25th February in the upstairs private room at The Chapel Market Tavern, 58 Penton St, London N1 9PZ. It's a short walk along Chapel Market from Angel tube station. We invite members to arrive from 6.30 for a 7 p.m. start. Please contact the Secretary to advise of your attendance or apology and indicate if you would like to stay and eat at the pub after the meeting.
3. Hunnypot 100: volunteers needed - correction to chair's email address
Last week's newsletter had a typo in the chair's email address. It should be: london.chair@ldwa.org.uk .
Here is the full message with that correction:-
Given this year's Hundred, the LDWA's flagship event, is being staged by a neighbouring group it would be good if London Group could send a reasonable number of volunteers to help at the event. At present we only have a handful, which is far fewer than the 20 primary members signed up to do the event. Our help will be required at the headquarters in Meopham, which is only about a mile from Meopham station which has direct trains to/from London. If you are able to help, please drop a line to london.chair@ldwa.org.uk so that we can provide the organisers of an idea of the scale of the support we can provide.

Winter Wetherspoon Wander
Event Type: Group Walk.

Route: East Croydon. To the recently-opened Coombe Lodge Wetherspoons for elevenses. Then through various green spaces to the Sir Julian Huxley in Selsdon (London's highest Wetherspoons) for lunch. Then more green spaces to the Whispering Moon at Wallington (station opposite).

2nd Pilgrims' Progress (pt 3) Leighton Buzzard to Berkhamsted
Event Type: Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / London/BBN
Start Time: 9:02
Route: Meet at at Leighton Buzzard station. Suggested train 08.09 from Euston. Car drivers could park at Leighton Buzzard & catch a return train from Berkhamsted at the end. Alternatively park in Berkhamsted & join the train from London at 8.47. Grand Union Canal, Two Ridges Link, sections of Chiltern way & Ashridge park. Finish at Berkhamsted station.
Notes: Picnic stops only, moderate pace. If intending to come it would be helpful to notify walk leader by Text message/WhatsApp, in advance if possible but even on the morning of the walk is fine. “A Pilgrims' Progress” was a Long Distance Path which was covered in 5 social walks from Bedford to London in 2024. This 2nd Pilgrims' Progress will follow an entirely different route, as a series of 6 social walks, only the start point in Bedford & the end point in London will be the same. We will follow the life of John Bunyan from his birth in Bedford to his grave in London. ****This will be a joint walk London group and BBN group***.
