1. New members

A warm welcome to new primary members Robert Miller and Landon Clouser; and new associate members Alister Ross, Sam Ross and Peter Sturton. 

 

2. LDWA London Group Annual General Meeting 2026 

The agenda and all report papers for the meeting are now available on the website.
Please note copies of papers will NOT be provided at the meeting.  A limited number of printed agenda papers will be available.
As notified the meeting is to be held on Wednesday 25th February in the upstairs private room at The Chapel Market Tavern, 58 Penton St, London N1 9PZ. It's a short walk along Chapel Market from Angel tube station.  We invite members to arrive from 6.30 for a 7 p.m. start.
A reminder to please contact the Secretary  to advise of your attendance or apology; also please indicate if you would like to stay and eat at the pub after the meeting.

 

3. Problems with paths

Members who find access problems along some public rights of way might be interested in the following guidance from The Ramblers. It explains the procedures to be followed to try to correct such problems.

Saturday 14th February 2026 

A Western Adventure (Part 3) Ashford (Surrey) to Maidenhead

Event Type: Group Walk. 

Region: Southern England / London
 
Distance: 20 miles
 
Start Time: 9:08
 
Route: Meet at Ashford, Surrey: 8.33 train from Waterloo. Parks, commons, green spaces, A variety of river paths; there may be some muddy sections. Expect to Finish at Maidenhead station about 17.00: GWR train or Elizabeth line back to Paddington. Lunch in Eton and Windsor, Bail out option here after 12 miles.
 
Notes: Bring picnic, plenty of water and food. Moderate pace. Please let leader know, ideally via WhatsApp or text, if you wish to come; ideally the day before so he can update you if there are any necessary changes to travel details or the route. This is the third in a pilgrimage set of 8 walks with the aim of reaching the World Heritage Site of the Great Stone Circle at Avebury.

1. Saturday 7th February 2026: Gavin led 19 walkers on a 21 mile hilly mud-fest from Burgess Hill to Brighton, of whom seven walkers called it a day at Southwick after 16 miles.
