1. New members

A warm welcome to new primary member Hayley Zwolinska; and new associate members Maryam Crossan, Gavin Jenkins, Ella Knight, Nicole Mendelsohn, Aly Warner, Marie Pascal Guinard, Martyn Fisher and Andy Hickman. 

2. Annual Statistical Summary

Last year London Group did 92 social walks, 86 daytime and 6 evening. The daytime walks totalled 1,548.5 miles and the evening ones 38.9 making for a total of 1587.4 miles. 266 different people came on at least one of our social walks.

Thursday 8th January 2026 

A Y to Y York Adventure

Event Type: Group Walk. 

Region: Southern England / London
 
Distance: 13 miles
 
Start Time: 10:30
 
Route:  Meet at Clapham Junction Station, the Grant Road exit close to platform 2, NOT the main exit to St Johns Hill. Starting with York Gardens a short distance from the station, we will visit several “York” places, green spaces & other interesting sites heading north east across central London finishing at Caledonian Road (Piccadilly line).
  
Notes: Picnic stops only. Moderate Pace If intending to come, please notify the walk leader in advance if possible but even on the morning of the walk it is fine.

Saturday 10th January 2026 
England Coast Path: Greenhithe to Gravesend via Cliff

This replaces the South Downs B to B Walk originally scheduled for today which has been postponed to February 7 due to railway engineering works.

Event Type: Group Walk.

Distance: 20.7 miles
 
Start Time: 9:15
 
Route: Greenhithe Station (train departs Charing Cross 08.20, Waterloo East 08.23, London Bridge 08.29). After being on the north bank last week, this week we will be following the England Coast Path on the south bank from Greenhithe to Cliffe, from where we head inland to St Mary's church, Higham and then by the Thames & Medway Canal back to Gravesend.
 
Notes: Bring food and drink for the day. We should be back in Gravesend by sunset but a head or other torch is advised just in case it doesn't go to plan. Possible break point at St Mary's Church (just under 16 miles) from where it is about 0.8 of a mile to Higham station.
