A Square Walk to end a Square Year
Event Type: Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / London
Start Time: 10:22
Route: Meet at Norbiton Station which is in zone 5 (suggested train is the 9.57 from Waterloo). North to Richmond; East to Roehampton, South to Wimbledon, West back to Norbiton. Finish at dusk or earlier at Norbiton. (4 trains per hour to Waterloo).
Notes: 2025 is a square number (45 times 45). To celebrate this event and the end of the year, we will walk a route in parkland, commons and streets in the style of straight Roman roads to make a square as far as modern life allows. Bring some food and drink although there will be opportunities for sustenance and public conveniences with some minor deviations from the route. Public Conveniences in Richmond Park, Putney Heath Telegraph pub where we will have a lunch break and on Wimbledon common. Bail out options at Wimbledon, Raynes Park, New Malden stations If intending to come please notify the walk leader by Text message/WhatsApp, in advance if possible but even on the morning of the walk it is fine.

New Year Hangover Buster. Hampstead Heath.
Event Type: Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / London
Start Time: 11:00
Route: Meet at Archway Station (Northern Line).
Notes: Start the New Year on this varied walk. Of course there will a quiz to stretch your minds as well as your legs. This will be a gentle introduction to the walking New Year. Note late start and shorter distance. An exploration of the lesser known parts of the Hampstead Heath led by a genuine local who has known the Heath all her life but still manages to get lost. We will also be looking at some seriously non-affordable houses in Highgate and Hampstead. Be prepared for some mud. I hope walkers will join me for a hearty breakfast at the Workman’s Café 103 Junction Road, London N19 5QX. from 0930 onwards. I know how disappointed many of you will be that this is not a Wetherspoons. However this is a real ‘greasy spoon’ very popular with locals and truckers. Assistance dogs only please. Finish back at Archway Station.
