3) CALL FOR SUMMER WALKS LEADERS Walks Secretary Jean O’Reilly is about to start pulling together the schedule of social walks for July, August, and September If you fancy leading a walk this summer, we aim to provide two walks per week: a short midweek walk, 7-ish miles, usually on a Wednesday evening, and a longer weekend walk of 20+ miles. It would be great to add a few new (or returning) leaders to our current list of hard-working leaders.
Here is an outline of the process and what is required from a leader.
- To confirm a walk we need to know
- Name of walk
- Date and Start time
- Distance
- Start Location / End Location
- Basic route details
- Your preferred contact details if you want people to let you know they are coming or to be able to contact you on the day - this can be an email address or phone number.
If you would like to limit numbers and have people register in advance for your walk, you can request this too. You can also let people know additional details, for example lunch stops, pub stops, dogs allowed.
We ask leaders to recce the walk in advance; however, this could have been done a few months earlier.
Once you have completed the walk we ask that you email the webmaster the following: A register of the walk attendees (for insurance purposes), a gpx file of the walk (if you have one) and a brief walk report. Plus any great photos so that it can all be uploaded to our website and used in a future copy of the Blather. .
If you might be interested or want more information, please contact Jean on london.walks@ldwa.org.uk. Contacting Jean will not commit you to providing a walk.
