Eileen Knopfel Memorial Walks

Well-known walker and member of Westmorland and North Lancs LDWA Group Eileen Knopfel died earlier this year.

Rosemary Webster, a close friend of Eileen, will be walking 60 miles over 3 days in June in her memory, hoping to raise some money for Cancer Care at the same time. Rosemary hopes many people will join her and walkers are invited to come along for one, two, or all three days.

The walks are:
11th June: Starting Crosthwaite Village Hall GR SD442913 at 8.am. The route goes over to stavely then up the right hand side of Kentmere to Kentmere village then back down the opposite side towards Windermere before returning to Crosthwaite. Packed lunch needed.

12th June: Again starting at Crosthwaite Village Hall at 8 am. Out to Cunswick scar, Ratherheath Tarn and onto the Dales Way to Bowness & Brant Fell before returning to Crosthwaite, again a packed lunch.

13th June: Starting from Winster Institute GR SD417937 at 8am. The morning route goes South over Gummers How and Cartmell Fell. Packed lunch again The afternoon walk does a circuit of Winster taking in some tarns. The afternoon walk starts at 1.30 and local villagers will join in.

There will tea and cakes at the finish on Saturday.
