Oxon 40/20 Feedback 2016

A selection of comments from entrants after the event:

"Many Thanks to all those involved in organising and running the day. My 7th and Mark's 3rd time of completing this event and continues to our favourite. Food, route and friendly faces from competitors and volunteers alike. Only hope the good weather on all previous occasions holds good for next year's earlier date.
"Big thanks to all involved in the Oxon 40 yesterday, superbly organised, fabulous food, great route and some lovely folk to chat to on the way. Thoroughly enjoyed my first ever challenge event!
"What a fantastic route! Had to work really hard to get round in the time limit which makes completing it really satisfying! An 'Oxcellent' day!
"A huge 'Thank You' to the Thames Valley group for hosting such a great event. A stunning day for walking this beautiful route. A first for me but it won't be the last. The bluebells alone will draw me back; blankets of blue everywhere. Kites flying overhead throughout the day; we can learn so much from these beautiful birds. Amazing checkpoints, so much to choose from. We opted not to linger long otherwise we never would have left.
"First and foremost, many thanks for a truly fabulous Oxon 20 yesterday. It was maybe the fourth time I have taken part and it did not disappoint. I would like to make a comment about the GPX files of the route though. I thought it was a great idea, and downloaded the 20 mile track into my handheld GPS. However, I discovered that handheld devices can take a maximum of 10,000 track points - and so the track was truncated around 14 miles! (Of course, I had my trusty printed RD so all was well!). I now know that I need to split the GPX track into 10,000 max segments and save and follow those - but thought I would email in case you can save future files in a more ‘handheld ready’ size - or in case you get queries about the truncated track and were not aware of the maximum track point limitation. Very much hope to see you next year - might even be brave enough (and fit enough) to try the 40 mile route. Once again, thanks for all your hard work.
"Thoroughly enjoyed the Ox40, it was slick & smooth and very well organised / coordinated, well done.
"Lovely run on Oxon 40 today - particularly loved the food throughout and at the end (compliments to whoever made that delicious root veg soup at the end!). See you next year.....
"Just to say thank you for a lovely walk yesterday. We saw lots of bluebells and Red Kites. The food at the check points was plentiful and first class, especially the cheese & cucumber sandwiches and cheese and tomato sandwiches, and off course all the other goodies i.e cake etc. Please thank all the helpers and marshals for all the hard work preparing the sandwiches and making cakes. and also for looking after us. How did you manage to have the sun shine on us all day, that really was a bonus.
"Firstly, many thanks for all your group’s efforts in arranging the Oxon40 last Saturday. It was, as usual, an excellently run & supported event. Am already looking forward to the next one! Secondly, the results on your web-page show me as having a time of 8h36m, whereas I actually took 9h36m. (Looks like the issue is with the start-time – I started at 7am, not at 8am as it says on the results.) I was pleased enough with my 9½ hour time… my poor legs couldn’t drag me round in 8½ hours!
"Thank you for a fantastic event on Saturday. We had a wonderful time.
"May I thank and congratulate you for a splendid event yesterday. I really enjoyed the day; you even ensured the weather was good and that all the bluebells were at their best. The route description was spot on, I got thoroughly spoilt at the checkpoints and had a yummy meal at the end (the root vegetable soup was superb). I know that all of this only happened because of a lot of sustained effort by all of the Group. I appreciate and thank you for your efforts. I think I’ve now been doing the Oxon for over 30 years and you are maintaining the quality splendidly. Well done,

"I just wanted to thank all the volunteers for a wonderful walk and day. The scenery was fantastic and the bluebell woods some of the best I have seen. A well chosen route. Also, many thanks for the great food which I appreciate must have taken a lot of time to prepare. The walk instructions were clear and we did not get lost. You even managed to arrange perfect weather!
"We were on the oxon 40 at the weekend and very enjoyable it was too! However. ...We have only been credited with 35 miles not 40? At no stage did we change to 35. If this could be changed we would appreciate it! There seems to have been a mistake as our certs were 35 but got it changed at the end. We defiantly were at the last checkpoint and we certainly remember the last 4 or so miles!
"I took part on Saturday and must both thank and congratulate you and all of the volunteers for such a well-run and enjoyable event – the food was so bountiful.
