Braywick Leisure Centre off Braywick Road, Maidenhead SL6 1BN. Park on the RHS of the entrance in front of the Stafferton Lodge. Parking is free on Sundays. If you would like to travel to the walk start by train, Braywick car park (in front of the Toby Carvery) is a 15min 0.7 mile walk from Maidenhead station - take the South exit to Shoppenhangers Road. You can also walk some of the way, through Braywick park passed the running track rather than along the busy dual carriage way

C800ft Ascent

We kick off the Thames Valley 50th Anniversary Celebrations with a 15 miles walk that approximately retraces the inaugural route taken by Bob Ford & John Cassells in 1976. Some 30 members also re walked the route on the Thames Valley 40th Anniversary in 2016. We head west across the golf course to Ockwells Park, Woodlands Park & join the Knowl Hill Bridleway Circuit heading over Bowsey Hill & Ashley Hill. We return via Burchett’s Green & Maidenhead Thicket to Braywick where we convene at Maidenhead Athletic Club, (SU8915 8008; what3words ///strain.remedy.loops) for a well earned cuppa & a slice of delicious Anniversary cake (home baked by Christine Harvey). We will also be showing a selection of slides from “way back when”, do you remember the old timers, or spot yourself from 2016? Anticipated return time 14:30 to 15:30. N.B the running club is just 200m/4min walk from the c.p if you’d like to return to your car, change boots etc before tea
