JURASSIC HUNDRED 2027

We have been asked to run a checkpoint at the Hundred in Devon next year, during the May bank holiday (29-30 May, 2027).

A straw poll last year indicated 9-10 TV members would be willing to marshals : we would need slightly more than this to fully man the checkpoint.

After some correspondence, we have chosen the Scout Hut at Sidmouth. This is at 35 miles (avoiding the short crushes early on but the very long shifts later!) and will be from 19.00 hrs on the Saturday until 03.00 Sunday.

The committee will be discussing financial compensation for marshals and we may make a weekend of it, with a walk beforehand : in the past, we have refunded travel and reasonable expenses.

We will not be taking commitments till next year but speak to Duncan Macgregor if interested.

Photo Competition Reminder

Social Walk Reports

Hurley Sun 15th Mar 2026

Ten TVLDWA members enjoyed a spring walk from Hurley on 15 March. The coffee stop was at Hambleden Lock, and the lunch stop took advantage of the picnic tables in Higginson Park at Marlow. After lunch there was a climb up to Burchetts Green via Pinkneys Green, and then back to Hurley. Luckily, the rain held off until after lunch.

Choice Chiltern Charm Sun 22nd Mar 2026

On 22 March 17 of us took advantage of the glorious spring weather on a 15 mile walk from Lane End through Chisbridge, Homefield Wood, Hambleden, Turville and Fingest. There was a distinct lack of mud but plenty of blossom and lambs. At Fingest there was even the opportunity for some tree surgery to remove a fallen branch from the path!
