Thames Valley LDWA

The Thames Valley Group AGM will be held on Sunday January 25th 2026 in Lane End Village Hall at 2.30pm, following the usual two short and long walks.  All primary and secondary members are invited. We will be providing pizzas before the meeting, and hot drinks thereafter but you should still bring some food and drink on the walks. We will include an update on plans for the 50th birthday celebrations for our group in 2026. There will also be a cake and celebration for a number of our members who are turning 80.

Nominations for officers and other committee members (including the names of proposer and seconder, which can be arranged through any current committee member) accompanied by confirmation of  the nominees agreement to stand, plus notice of any motions (including proposer and seconder) or suggestions for items to the agenda (no proposer required) should reach the Secretary (thamesvalley@ldwa.org.uk) by December 28th 2024. An agenda will then be prepared.  All nominees, proposers and secondees should be Primary Members of the group, though Secondary Members are welcome to attend and comment.

As per the constitution, all committee members are required to retire at the AGM and re-submit themselves, if they wish, for re-election.The Chair is willing to continue, although we need a new Secretary (that we propose be split in to two positions) and Treasurer, both having reached the end of their fixed five year terms.  There is currently one nomination for one of the Secretary roles and one for Treasurer ; for details of the other Secretary role (covering membership lists, emails and external communications) see the newsletter that will be issued at the end of this month.  Additionally, filling unspecified vacancies in the Committee would aid in organising ad hoc events and the succession for future years.. The constitution allows for 10 committee members, and there are at least 4 vacancies. If you feel you might be able to help, please speak to a committee member or reply to this email.

An annual report for 2025 will be issued on the Thames Valley website a week in advance of the meeting and copies will be available at the meeting.

Duncan Macgregor

2025 Secretary
