Wed 10th                    Sept Cutty Sark to the Golden Hinde Centuries of Maritime History

7mls. Start 18.30 Meet by the figurehead of the Cutty Sark (TQ383779) Walk will be along both the N&S banks past the ancient pubs in Wapping.  Through St Katherine's Dock to the S bank,  passing the HMS Belfast to finish at the Golden Hinde. Ldr Susan Cannell

 
 
 
Sat Sep  13th                    20th  Anniversary Walk and Chappel Beer Festival
20ml  09.27 Start Kelvedon Stn. Depart London Liverpool Street 08.38.  Buy return tickets to Chappel & Wakes Colne. Repeat of the first ever London  LDWA full day walk from 1994.
 
 The walk will commence with a 10 mile morning loop from Kelvedon to the  Tiptree Jam Factory where there is a tea room, shop and a small museum. Lunch  will be at the NT Grange Farm Barn in Coggeshall (one of the oldest timber  framed buildings in Europe) where there is a free entry Beer Festival with food,  wine, cider and demonstrations of local crafts and activities. Saturday is  Heritage Open Day so there is also free entry to nearby Paycocke's House.
 
Following lunch there is a seven mile walk along the Essex Way through  Coggeshall and Great Tey To Chappel to visit Chappel Viaduct (the largest brick  built building in England apart from Battersea Power Sation). From there there  is a short walk to Chappel and Wakes Colne Station where there is an optional  visit to the Chappel Beer Festival with a choice of over 450 Real Ales.  Trains and buses leave at 36 and 55 mins to return to Marks Tey for mainline  services.
