The London LDWA group was formed in 1994 when 8 local LDWA members met in the Charing Cross Hotel. There was a Evening Pub Meet/ Tour of Wapping on August 17th followed by the groups first full day walk on August 20th from Kelvedon to Chappel and Wakes Colne. Both of these walks were led by the then Strider Editor and LDWA 100 Photographer Steve Clarke who is no relation to the current LDWA 100 Photographer also called Steve Clarke. I will be repeating both this walks within the next month. Both of these walks will be at a moderate pace.
Next Wednesday (Aug 20th) there is a 6 mile walk from the Dickens Inn, St Katherines Dock (nearest tube Tower Hill) around the Wapping Area which will call at one riverside pub and will finish at another. This walk has been modified to include a chance to see the Ceramic Poppy Fields outside the Tower (Eventually totalling 888,246 one for each British and Commonweath soldier killed in WW1)
