Following yesterday’s Government announcement about group sizes, the following has now been posted on the national LDWA website:

The NEC are aware of the latest news from the Government restricting group sizes in England to no more than six people from next Monday, 14 September 2020. We are seeking advice as to how this impacts group walking and we will issue an update in due course and as fast as we reasonably can once we have further details. Please do bear with us and we thank you for your understanding whilst we seek clarification.

The walks to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the London group are still going ahead on Saturday as previously advertised. Risk assessments have been conducted by walk leaders and we remind everyone who is attending to comply with the social distancing guidelines. Anyone who has registered on a walk inside London on Saturday would have received some additional information about the walk and the procedure at the end in St James Park.

Permission to have groups larger than 6 is contingent on participants undertaking to comply with the following:

Walkers must not attend LDWA social walks if they or a member of their permitted ‘bubble’ has recently been diagnosed with or show any Covid-19 symptoms, are awaiting test results or are self-isolating under current Government guidance. Walkers must not car share unless they are from the same household or part of a permitted ‘bubble’ from another household. Social distancing must apply where practicable throughout the walk between fellow walkers and members of the public. All walkers must carry an appropriate hand sanitiser, a face covering and a small first aid kit. All walkers must not share personal items or equipment during a walk.
