Colin Saunders has asked for the following message to be sent to all London members. If you do not know Colin, he has been a stalwart of the London LDWA for many years and is the author of other books, including the guide book to the Capital Ring.

"My new book Rambling Away From ‘The Smoke’ has been published.  It tells the fascinating story of the great ramblers’ excursions from London, which lasted from 1932 to 2004, and on which I started my walking ‘career’ back in 1967.  The 146-page book  normally costs £8.00 but a special price of £6.00 is offered to LDWA members.  Post and packing is £2 extra.  All profits (including a guaranteed minimum £1 per book sold) will be donated to The Ramblers, which organised the excursions for much of that time.

If you would like a copy, please send a cheque for £8.00 (inc P&P) payable to Footline Press Limited at 35 Gerrards Close, London, N14 4RH.

Even better, save the P&P charge (and put it towards a pint) by picking one up, signed by the author, at a sociable evening on Monday 14 July from 5 to 10 pm at the Crosse Keys pub, 9 Gracechurch Street, London, EC3V 0DR (near Monument and Bank Stations and on the west side of Gracechurch Street opposite Robert Dyas).  It’s a Wetherspoons pub so food and drink is available at very reasonable prices.  We’ll be in one of the back rooms."

Be there! I probably will.
