First off, here's an early alert concerning the Founders Marshals Walk on Saturday week (14th September): Gordon, who is organising the event, would like those planning to join the Marshals Walk to notify leaders Gavin and Isabel well in advance so a) they can wait for them, as with earlier than usual starts travel plans could go awry b) route descriptions and GPX tracks can be shared: checking them is one of the purposes of these walks. All the details below, along with those of this Saturday's walk, a tempting-sounding Wealden hike from Sevenoaks to Tonbridge.

Start: Sevenoaks Railway Station. Finish: Tonbridge Railway Station Starting at Sevenoaks Railway Station before making our way through some wonderful parts on Sevenoaks Weald and onwards towards the historic village of Hever, lunch will be in the shadow of the historic Hever castle at the lovely King Hendry viii pub, it has a large garden and is dog friendly. On leaving Hever we walk along the Eden Valley walk through the village of Penshurst and past the wonderful Penshurst place on our way to Tonbridge
 
General Notes
Please Note that the walk finishes in Tonbridge so you will need a train ticket to return from there. Dogs welcome

Founders Challenge Marshals' walk

Route
Both walks will start from St Catherine’s Village Hall, Chestnut Avenue, GU2 4HF; The 30 mile walk will start at 0830 (0730 train from London Waterloo). The 19 mile walk will start at 0930 (0830 train from London Waterloo). Drivers should park cars at Artington Park and Ride, Old Portsmouth Rd, GU3 1LP (NB This car park closes at 7.30 p.m.) The 30 mile route is Guildford – Peaslake – Tanners Hatch – Shere – Guildford; 
The 19 mile shorter route Guildford – Peaslake – Shere – Guildford.

General Notes
Bring a picnic lunch. The shop in Peaslake (10.5 miles) will be open for refreshments and Shere (24.8 miles on the longer route, 13.5 miles on the shorter route) is well provided with a coffee shop and pubs but those on the longer route will be walking at a brisk pace and there will be limited time for stops. The walks are primarily for those volunteering on the day as Marshals. Others are welcome especially if you want a led walk that introduces you to Challenge Walks but note that the longer route will indeed be challenging!
