It's the week of the summer solstice, and this week's walks are just the thing to help you celebrate it in style. On Thursday Gail and John will be leading a fabulous sounding expedition that starts and finishes at Putney Bridge station, chases the route of the Boat Race and manages to pack in all manner of interesting sights and sites including the shrine to 1970s rock legend Marc Bolan. On Saturday set your alarms early and head for North Greenwich station if you want to take part in our MIdsummer Challenge and find out how far you can walk between sunrise and sunset. Last year we managed to reach Weybridge - can anyone beat that this time around? For those who prefer a little longer in bed, there's an option this year to join us at breakfast time at the Lord Moon in the Mall, Whitehall, where we will be arriving around 8.00. And then, if you just fancy the 'normal' 20-mile day, you can leave us at Kingston.

Note: please can anyone joining at the Lord Moon text me or email (contact details below) so we know to look out for you.

News!

A heads up for next spring: on Saturday, 6 April 2019, the Capital Challenge will return for a third year to celebrate the city where the London Group is based. This urban walk starts on the South Bank under Waterloo Bridge and finishes at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Registration will open in early November. More information (including fees) will appear in later newsletters and on the London LDWA website and Facebook page.
