The marshals' walks have been walked, the cakes are about to be baked, and London LDWA is raring to go. Yes, it's the big event, the 2018 Capital Challenge, coming up this Saturday, and if it's the first time you've trodden this route then you've got a treat coming - it's marvellous.
The Bathurst Mews Riding Stables Turn right into Bathurst Mews for one of the many captivating sights on the Capital Challenge.

No other walks are scheduled this week, which leaves plenty of room to mull over last week's, and The Curious Case of the Vanishing Pubs.
Walkers on Godfrey's 7-mile midweek evening yomp from Hampstead to Wetherspoon's were in for a shock at the finish. It was no longer a Wetherspoon's. The prospect of a tastebud-tingling curry gave way to the heartburn of disappointment. In Godfrey's own words, 'The leader had become a sad victim of too much dependence on Google information.' A similar fate awaited walkers on Jerome's Sevenoaks Circular at the weekend; the expected watering-hole at Romney Street, although on the new map, was no more! Fortunately, the Bell Inn a little further along the route was alive and well, and open for much-needed refreshment.
