Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope that Susanne satisfactorily busted your hangovers yesterday and now you are ready to hit the ground running (well walking a long way at any rate) in 2018!

I think we can all look back on a very successful year for LDWA London in 2017.

  • ran 88 well-attended social walks (including eight pop-ups),
  • organised two of our most successful ever challenge events - the Capital Challenge in April and the 21st Founders' in October,
  • held one weekend away, and
  • participated actively in ten "Silk River" walks.

And our membership seems to have grown significantly over the year, too.   You will be able to learn more about all this at our forthcoming AGM, of which more details over the next few weeks.

So from this fabulous platform, let's launch ourselves into 2018!

To infinity and beyond!
LDWA London has a fantastic programme for 2018 already laid on

So, with hangovers dispelled, and with a spring in our steps, our walk this week is on Saturday and is headed up by Nigel, who will be leading us - not exactly into infinity and beyond - but rather more prosaically into Hampshire.   His excursion meets at 08.55 at Farnham station and completes an 18 mile circuit of some of the county's most iconic scenes including woods, farms and villages.   There's a pub lunch for those who would prefer it (though please note it will need to be a swift lunch this time to make the most of the walking time) - so what more could you want apart from deep and crisp and even weather, and possibly also a torch in case darkness descends early?

Well that's it for now - have a great week, month and year!
