Dear all
Well as we celebrate the England women's victory in the cricket world cup, we move into the new week in good spirits. And even if you've not managed to get away on holiday yet, we've got a couple of great walks this week to tempt you out and about and make the most of our beautiful local countryside..
By the way - in case you are sitting in a faceless office staring at a computer screen at the moment, here's what's going on outside (and there is a MASSIVE prize for anyone who knows where this photo was taken):

Summer in the Home Counties Poppies make a colourful adornment to the rolling hills. Taken by the Walks Secretary on Sunday in the Chilterns. Massive prize for anyone who know the rather splendid name of the spot where it was taken
Now hopefully that's not too distracting because we've still got this week's walks to cover!
Our first walk this week is on Wednesday evening and takes us to Hampstead Heath, where Susanne will be leading us like a "true local" through one of London's most expansive (and possibly also expensive) open spaces. If you'd like to go, take the Northern Line to Golder's Green station for 18.00 on Wednesday where your local guide will await you.
Then on Sunday, we're heading off to the Darenth Valley with Lonica. Note that if you're doing a spot of pre-walk online research, make sure that your spellchecker doesn't accidentally transport you 5,900 miles west. If it does, you might find that your packing list turns out to be a bit misaligned with the conditions you will actually encounter on the walk. Notwithstanding these hazards, if you'd like to explore this fascinating corner of north west Kent, take the train to Otford station for 09.16 on Sunday morning, noting that the train times are slightly earlier than advertised in "Strider".
So that's your lot for now. Enjoy pondering the poppies and preparing to dodge the tumbleweed.
Have a great week!
Adam
