We have four committee posts coming vacant next February that will need to be filled at the AGM.
These are :- Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Walks Secretary.
This is an unprecedented number at one time and it is important that we fill them all - They are all necessary for the functioning of the group.
So please consider whether you would be willing to make a contribution to the running of the London group by taking on one of the roles. The term is a maximum of three years.

A brief description of the roles follows :-
Chair
arranging and chairing the AGM and London Group Committee meetings ( 3 per year).
ensuring all matters are discussed and resolved and that memebrs can raise issues.
supporting other committee memebrs in their roles.
In practice the role is one of the less onerous ones and really involves general support and facilitation of the Committee and keeping in touch with members and other groups.
Secretary
emailing new members welcoming them to the group.
communicating with members about queries and dealing with membership issues.
taking minutes of the AGM and the committee meetings.
This role is really about communication with members, dealing with members queries and keeping records of meetings. The membership records are held on the national database and no extra work is required to maintain this Steady workflow. c 220 new members this year including associates.
Treasurer
managing the accounts of the group - checking and paying invoices, paying in cash/ cheques and checking the bank statements.
reporting on the finances at committee meetings and the AGM.
preparing the annual accounts which need to be audited and submitted to the AGM.
The main event to deal with is the founders challenge in Oct. Main work is in Oct and Jan/Feb to prepare accounts. Several hours in these months - otherwise a couple of hours a month.
Walks Secretary
Recruiting leaders to complete the London program of week-end and evening walks.
Ensuring all walk details are received in time for the Strider deadlines: end Sept for spring, end Jan for summer and end May for autumn.
Entering details of walks on website by the strider deadline.
Keeping the website updated with amendments as necessary and emailing the membership with urgent changes.
This role's purpose is to fill the London groups walks program and communicate to members via Strider, the walks page of the website and email. Most activity is in finding leaders to fill the program and inputting walks to the site before the deadline. Otherwise steady flow of queries and walk amendments.
