London LDWA

Hello again!

Summer is in full swing now, and we have, as usual, got a couple of great walks in store to help make the most of it.

But before we get into the details of this week's busy programme - a Special Notice...

Walk leaders for Spring 2017 (1 January to 30 April)

Although it seems like a long way off, still, I'm already trying to fill the walks programme for next Spring (we are driven by the "Strider" publication schedule, which means we need to start planning early).

There are still a few gaps in the programme, so if you feel you could lead for us, please just reply to this email and let me know what dates might be possible for you.   You can see which dates are currently still available just by clicking on this link.

If you've never led for us before, don't worry!   We can give you all the background you might need.

If you can step forward and help, I'd be extremely grateful and so would our members!

Thanks

And now on with this week's programme!

Well first up, on Thursday, Susanne is leading the second in a "duology" of arboreal walks around some of London's nicest parks and rivers.  Her last outing spotting "celebratrees" was a great success (you can read the report by clicking here), and Thursday's outing promises to be equally enjoyable.   If you'd like to test your tree-identification (and possibly even hugging) skills, you just need to meet you way to Mornington Crescent stn (Northern Line) for 18.00 on Thursday evening.

London Plane trees

Lots of lovely leafy London Planes to be spotted and hugged on Thursday!

And then on Saturday, Chris will be leading an excursion which, slightly schizophrenically, is identified as both a "Hike" and a "Ramble".   Despite the nomenclature, this sounds like a really good walk, exploring not just Box Hill, but also, potentailly, a vineyard.   I can't promise chilled Chardonnay - or even buckets of Burgundy - to finish your walk, but if you would like to go along and find out what's on offer, then just make your way to Box Hill and West Humble station for 09.21 (precisely) on Saturday.

So that's all from me - have a great week and don't forget to reply to this email if you think you could offer to lead a walk next Spring!.

Cheers

Adam
