Hello everyone!
Well just when we thought it could never happen - the sun has come out! What better excuse could you need to get your shorts on and dazzle your friends with your lardy legs on an LDWA excursion?
Well this week brings no less than two opportunities to do just that.
First of all, on Wednesday, Julie is leading a Greenwich hike featuring not only the Cutty Sark but also, even more importantly, a Wetherspoons pub at the end. There could be no finer way to enjoy what will doubtless be a glorious sunny evening in the eastern reaches of the Thames. If you'd like to join Julie on her Greenwich Tops hike, just be at Cutty Sark DLR station at 18.00 on Wednesdsay. To give you a taste of the excitements to come, the photo below shows the view from Greenwich hill (rather inconveniently partly obscured by some LDWA hikers who got in the way)
A fine view of the Milennium Dome, with a few LDWA members getting in the way.
Is there more, I can hear you asking? Well yes, there is! Because on Sunday, in a joint excursion with Kent group, along comes our second walk of the week! Yes, Peter will be leading an unusual-sounding "courses for horses" hike which promises to visit no less than three horse racing courses in just one trip. This has all the makings of a really interesting walk and with Ascot only a month away, it could be just the opportunity for you to test out your top hat and / or fascinator. So, to join the fun, be at Wye station at 09.40 on Sunday morning.
Doing the recce for the LDWA racecourse visit.
That's it for today - have a great week and try and make the best of the sunshine. It might be the last we get until 2017.
All the details of the walks are below.
