Dear all
The first thing I need to let you know is what is happening to Keith's walk this Wednesday.
As at the time of writing (5pm on Monday 24 August), it has just been announced that this week's tube strikes have been suspended (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-34045753)
Therefore this Wednesday's Wimbledon to Kingston walk will go ahead as planned. Be at Wimbledon station at 6pm if you'd like to join in.
And moving on to a hopefully strike-free weekend, on Saturday, Jerome is leading a Chiltern exploration from Maidenhead, taking in parts of the Thames loop and offering the promise of some superb views. If you'd like to go on this walk, be at Maidenhead station at 9am. Note that you'll need to bring a picnic lunch on this walk.
While I've got your attention, I also thought it might also be worth refreshing your minds about one of the features of the LDWA's main website, which I have to admit I'd overlooked. There is an excellent interactive facility there for showing where all our walks will be, and have been in the past, which you can access by clicking here (you need to fill in the relevant group, event type and date details and select the "show on a map" option)
I took a look at where we'd been over the last 12 months, and was quite impressed with the geographic spread that we'd achieved. We seem to have covered all points of the compass from London, as the map shows, but if you think there are parts of the country that we've missed out and would like to explore, or if you think we are visiting some parts too often, please let me know by emailing:
london.walks@ldwa.org.uk
Thanks!
