2. Volunteers needed for Capital Challenge - reminder
The Capital Challenge is the London group's flagship event of the year and we need a couple of dozen marshals to make the event a success. As well as receiving the undying gratitude of 220 walkers, marshals are entitled to take part in the Capital Challenge Marshals' Walk on 14 March 2026 for free - thereby saving an unbelievable £15 (!).
Region: Southern England / Bucks Beds and Northants
Distance: 15 miles
Start Time: 9:00
Route: Meet at Bedford Midland station. Start at Bedford Midland station. If you would like to park at the end of the walk, park at Ridgmont station & take the 8.18 train to Bedford for the start at 9am. If you prefer to park at Bedford, we expect to finish in time for the 15.10 train back to Bedford. Finish at Ridgmont station. Bedford town, Ouse Valley Trail, John Bunyan Trail. Picnic stops only, moderate pace. Please bring all the food & drinks that you will need for the day. If intending to come it would be helpful to notify the walk leader by Text message/WhatsApp, in advance if possible but even on the morning of the walk is fine.
Notes: Posted as Joint Walk on BBN Walk Programme. Early start from Bedford so very limited London LDWA appeal. Last year “A Pilgrim's Progress” was a Long Distance Path which was covered in 5 social walks from Bedford to London last year. This 2nd Pilgrims Progress will follow an entirely different route, as a series of 6 social walks, only the start point in Bedford & the end point in London will be the same. We will follow the life of John Bunyan from his birth in Bedford to his grave in London Joint Walk with London LDWA.
