Tilbury to Pitsea - Charles III Coastal Path

Start Time: 9:05
 
Route: Meet at Tilbury Town railway station. Suggested train 08:23 from London Fenchurch Street arrives at Tilbury Town at 09:03. This is the first section of the Charles III Coastal Path on the north bank of the Thames. The walk starts at Tilbury Town railway station. We visit the Tilbury Cruise Terminal (where the Empire Windrush arrived in 1948) & Tilbury Fort (scene of a famous speech by Elizabeth I). We follow the river going past Coalhouse Fort & the visitor centre at Thurrock Thameside Nature Park. We then head inland passing the London Gateway Port & finishing at Pitsea station.
 
General notes: Limited bail out options. Limited facilities. Bring something to eat & drink.
