London LDWA

Dear London hikers

I hope you had a good weekend and that the week is shaping up well for you.   It looks like "business as usual" has been resumed in the weather department, though hopefully that doesn't mean that the British summer is over for another year :-(

While I've got your attention, I'd just like to say a big "thank you" to those of you who kindly volunteered either to help at the "Founders'" event in October, or to lead a walk next Spring.   It's still not too late to volunteer - for the Founders' the contact is Gordon Parker at founderschallenge@ldwa.org.uk and for walks leaders it's me at adldwa@btinternet.com.   I'll be following up on possible leaders over the summer, too, but if you could come forward ealy, it would help me enormously.

Anyway, as ever, we have a brilliant week's hiking coming up for the London group.

First of all, on Wednesday, Peter is lesding a "13-bridges" walk which very much does what it says on the tin .   A fascinating way to see a diferent side to London.   If you'd like to join, meet Peter at Tower Hill Underground Station at 6:30pm

Then on Sunday, Lonica is taking a linear 20-miler from Roydon to Harlow Town.   If you'd like to join her, be at Roydon station at 9:27 am to join the Vanclay voyage of discovery.   Note that the train times and lunch details have changed slightly compared to "Strider" - so read the updated full description carefully.

As usual, all the details of this week's notes are at the bottom of the email.

By the way, I spent last weekend walking part of the Ebor Way, near Wetherby in Yorkshire.   A delightful route along the banks of the river Wharfe.   We even managed to take in the Wetherby Food Fair en route - but as the picture shows, we were left wondering a  bit about what exactly constitues fine food and drink in Yorkshire (and I can safely say that because I come from Yorkshire..)..

;Finest Yorkshire fare

And on that bombshell (as they used to say on the BBC), I'll sign off

Cheers!

Adam
