Chipstead (Surrey) to Tattenham Corner

Event Type: Group Walk.

Distance: 16.5 miles
 
Start Time:  10:50
 
Route: Meet at Chipstead (Surrey) railway station. Valley & hills to Mugswell & Merstham. Climb to the North Downs ridge at Reigate Hill, on to Epsom Downs for finish at Tattenham Corner about 5pm.
 
Notes: 3 mph pace. Bring food & water for the day. Late lunch at Reigate Hill (10 miles), café, toilet & benches. 9:40 from London Bridge, 9:59 East Croydon. Return from Tattenham Corner every 30 mins. Both Chipstead & Tattenham Corner are in Zone 6, otherwise book return to Tattenham Corner.

Hastings via Pett Level Circular

Event Type: Group Walk. 

Region: Southern England / London
 
Distance: 18 miles
 
Start Time:  10:20
 
Route: Meet at Hastings Railway Station. Suggested train 08:04 from Charing Cross calling at Waterloo East 08:07 and London Bridge 08:13. Through Hastings town centre, along the sea front before encountering our first set of many steps that we will encounter on route through Hastings Country Park. Leaving the Country Park, we head through the village of Fairlight and down to Pett Level. Lunch will be a picnic on the beach. We then follow Pett Level Beach walking along the Sea defence almost to Winchelsea before heading inland to follow the Royal Military canal back to Pett Level. The final leg of the walk will take us back through Hastings Country Park tacking a more inland route (avoiding the steps) back down into Hastings Old Town.
 
Notes: Picnic lunch on Pett Level beach. Sandwiches, coffee and cakes available at Eaters. Toilets at Pett Level. Afternoon tea or beer break at the Coastguard Café.
