Canal Solstice Saunter

Start Time: 7:00
Route: London Bridge (meet by piano in downstairs section). For our annual long midsummer London walk this year we'll be using the city's canals. After going through Wapping to Limehouse Basin we'll pick up the Regent's Canal. Potential for meeting us near Limehouse and Mile End - please let the walk leader know if you wish to do so at either location or elsewhere along the route. Alternatively people wanting a more normal walk can join at Angel station (ETA 09.30). We'll then proceed along the canal to Paddington for a late elevenses. From there we'll go along the Grand Union Canal (possible break points at Alperton and Greenford) to Ball's Bridge (break point for Hayes & Harlington), where we'll turn onto the other branch back to Brentford (break point at Boston Manor) and along the Thames. If anyone wishes to continue the walk we will then carry on along the Thames Path on the south bank until those left standing have had enough!
Notes: Scope for the purchase of extra provisions at Paddington (also has toilets), Alperton (Sainsbury's, also has toilets) and Southall (an off licence). Despite the given mileage the idea of this walk is it can be as long as those who come on it want to be, hence the many joining and departing points.
