3. New Year's Greeting from the Chair
On behalf of London LDWA may I thank all those who have contributed to the group over 2024, whether attending or leading our extensive and thriving social walks programme (90 London walks and 6 joint walks) or assisting at the Capital Challenge or the Speyside 100. None of those (well perhaps the 100!) could have happened without you.
May you have a happy new year and I look forward to seeing many of you in 2025. And don't forget, we still need a volunteer to replace me at the AGM...

New Year Hangover Buster. City Walls & Churches of London
Event Type: Group Walk.
Route: Meet at Monument Column just outside Monument Underground Station. Spiral Walk at an easy pace to finish back at Monument.
Lunch Bring a sandwich or snack or join me for breakfast. Most food outlets in the City will be closed. Assistance dogs only please.
Notes: Start the New Year on this varied and informative walk. Of course there will a quiz to stretch your minds as well as your legs. This will be a gentle introduction to the walking New Year. Note late start and shorter distance. A thorough exploration of the Roman/Medieval City of London including walls, churches, gardens, alleyways and much more. A must for history buffs or for anyone curious to know how you can possibly get a walk of 11 miles within 1 square mile without any repetition.
I hope walkers will join me for a hearty breakfast, from 0930 onwards, at the following exclusive hostelry (Wetherspoons of course) with fabulous views of the Tower of London. It is a 10 minute walk from Monument. The Liberty Bounds 15 Trinity Square, Tower Hill, City of London, EC3N 4AA (They assure me that they will be open at 9am).

The Absolutely Final Ham & Venison Wrap.
Event Type: Group Walk.
Route: Meet Wimbledon rlwy stn main ticket hall. Circular walk, finishing back at Wimbledon.
Notes: Deb & Andy are moving to New Zealand in January. This is a final re-run of this walk. Morning route is up to Wimbledon Common & into Richmond Park, through Isabella Plantation & on to Ham Common & Teddington Lock, then Thames Path to Richmond. Picnic lunch on Richmond Hill, adjacent to The Roebuck pub. Afternoon is wandering back through Richmond Park, with likely tea stop at Roehampton Gate, then back through a different part of Wimbledon Common & down through the Village to the station

Saturday 28th December: Gavin led 18 members on a 15.3 mile circular walk from Princes Risborough, bagging several hills along the way.
